My DH is really difficult to buy presents for, and has his birthday before Christmas so have to think twice in a short space of time. Rather than tell you anything about my DH (it probably won't help!) I thought I might generate more ideas by asking what successful presents you have bought DH/DP/even your Dad. I am looking particularly for something a little bit different. He has had cycle computer/heart rate monitor for running/wine bottle warmer &chiller/fancy cork screw/magnetic beer bottle holder/Oxfam unwrapped stuff in recent years. He's not "up" for experience voucher type gifts. Any tried and tested ideas appreciated, and am sure it will help more than me with gift ideas for difficult men-folk!

christmas - cds he wanted - usual jocks and socks for stocking, obligatory toblerone, some books

He also got a telescope.

Case of fine wines / crate of fine ales? My DH loves Banksy (graffiti bloke) so got him one of his books plus a photo of one of his 'This is not a photo opportunity' works which he thinks is a right larf. Lovely Jo Malone manly-type scent?

chainsaw

an ancient but lovely globe

A small humidor. Cuban cigars. Single malts. Armagnac. Barsac. And socks.

This year he is dropping hints about a mandolin...

ooh I thought this thread was dead. Many thanks for kicking it back into life and the suggestions. Please keep them coming because I know I'm not the only one with the "what to buy DH/DP" problem!!

(P.S. the Christmas topic wasn't open when I posted this first - anyone know if you can move threads over to another topic without copying it all?)

Bought my DH a 'virually indestructible remote control plane' from Robert Dyas for fathers' day. Big success for all the family as it's great fun to fly although too difficult for kids to do alone.

A pair of black slippers that my children decorated. Gave them one slipper each, some glue, glitter, and other things they could stick on.
He was wetting himself when he opened the box.

Love it Maisemor! Luckily for DH, my DCs are past that stage.
