Hi,
Anyone got any ideas for an evening wedding reception in a hotel that are not a disco or a magician. Will be a smallish do (60 people. All ideas gratefully received thanks!

It's a afternoon wedding with a meal about 6pm. this is my brother's event but was hoping to be able to contribute some ideas1 Have suggested a few already; disco, magician, quiz, none of them met with much enthusiasm and of course the obvious one of just getting pissed and mingling is rather dull in their eyes!!! (Not mine tho!)

ceilidh

My brother had one at his wedding this summer and it had everyone up and dancing, young and old (even DS who was 3 that week)

I think unique is a good way of looking at it. I think quiz would be most naff too - have suggested bingo!!!, met with a sort of gasp of horror...... (meant it in a post-ironic way of course)

We went to an evening do recently with a casino. Wasn't very flashy but good fun. Had a 'wedding disco' as well though.

My sister had a Frank Sinatra impersonator.

He did all of Franks hits. He was so cheesy but so very fab. Everyone was up and dancing, while he mingled around the dance floor singing away...

Liking the casino idea and the Frank one too; will pass them on. keep 'em coming.....

It has to be an Elvis impersonator. You just can't go wrong with The King.

we had a modern jive dance class - that was fun and evryone got up to try out the moves

Or they could have a barn dance thing..you know where you get the caller who tells you what to do (take you partners by the hand, doce do etc etc)..theres a name for them but I can't think of it at the moment.
