Best 40th gift for me

Hi, I'm after some inspiration.

I turn 40 in a few weeks. We were meant to get married on 6th June which we have postponed to Sept & may have to again. We have two daughters aged 2 & 3.

My OH has two ideas of what to get me for my 40th, he's obviously trying to think of something unusual and that is something to keep. His ideas: a road bike (I have a hybrid bike and we have never been on a bike ride since we have been together) or a tattoo, I'm not totally adverse to this as an idea but worried it will looks rubbish when I get older, don't know where to have it, don't know what to have.

My parents are going to come down for the first time since lockdown and we are going to have a night away which will be lush.

Has anyone got any amazing ideas? Xx

Only have a tattoo if it's something you really want, not because your dp wants you to.

Piece of bespoke jewellery?

Piece of art?

A lovely silk scarf or clutch bag or something of that ilk? Something timeless that you could get out on special occasions for the next ten years?

I hot myself a tattoo for my 40th, don't get one for someone else. I'm very sentimental so would go for jewellery rather than something you'll trade up/in at some point, like I guess (maybe wrongly) you would a bike.

I have been lusting after a pair of diamond stud earrings for years, so that would be top of my wish list. Timeless, elegant and simple enough to get lots of wear and pleasure from.

Tattoo is not just his idea, we have previously spoken about it and I am keen but also as previously states.
