Please tell me what your 4yo girl would love as a birthday present. What's been a recent hit?

TIA, DD is four in a month or so and we're a bit stuck for what to get her. Maybe a pink leappad and some books but is there anything that has been a particular hit with your 4yo? She's a girly girl who loves pink.

dd1 loved umbrella, colouring things, little people stuff ( not sure if you have that), fairy sticker book and about 4000 stickers ( well maybe 100 but it feels like more) a thing called a clikits purse that came as a purse shell and you decorated it.

DD's bike was the hit of her 4th birthday.

For her 3rd (but would have been suitable for 4th too) we got her the Dora Explorer campervan and she has played with that every day since.

Puppet show? ELC did a nice one I got one or other Inferiorettes last Christmas.

oh thats good. i am stil lwaiting for mattel to send me a box and stuff to send dd3's back. i am very peed off as that van was a complete hit with dd3.

dd2 likes littlist pet shop stuff, but she has just turned 5.

Glad you asked this, I am trying to find something for dh's goddaughter. I was sort ofthinking either tea set, or huge bead kit, are they totally lame ideas?

The Klutz Dress-up Doll Book is wonderful. The clothes stick to the dolls with doublesided (re-usable) adhesive stickers. There is a huge range of clothes, and baby dolls too. DD1 got it for her 4th birthday. At first she needed a bit of help with putting them together, but after a bit of practice she can now do them herself and it has given her hours of fun.

The book even includes a 'wardrobe' and 'drawers' so you can tidy away all the dolls & clothes so they don't get lost.

I still have to send dd's Polly Pocket back. All she wanted for Christmas was the house and it's on the list . Mind you she hasn't played with it much, so I'm hoping she won't miss it.

I can't possibly get away with recommending Sylvanian familes again, can I... There's some lovely girly Playmobil available, that might be good? (Can't believe she's 4 already!!)

DD (coming up for 4) is desperate for a hairstyling head.
She loves her hairdryer & vanity case from ELC.
Playmobil, some lovely princess castle stuff (oh, Tamum's already suggested this).

Ooh thanks for all these ideas, what are Sylvanian families? I'll look at all the linsk later. I asked her what she wanted and she said a dolly. Hmm, she has about 15 already, they all look the same to me.

My DD is 4 and def agree with CM about dressing up clothes. She dresses up almost every day.

Anything disney princess goes down a hit as does Barbie dolls and Disney Princess dolls. Also My Little Pony.

She also got a bike for her birthday and rides it all the time.

M&S also have a gorgeous reversible cinderella costume. Lovely and really well-made.

Anything pink to do with fairies or princesses.

We've also bought her a cd player so she can listen to music/story tapes in her bedroom and dance with her friends. We got her a pink Bush one from Argos which was only £19 compared to the £40 ELC wanted for the 'childrens' one and it is a big hit.

Have to agree with the Sylvanian families.

dd1 was 4 last week. Of all the presents she got, including ones that she had asked for, the Sylvanian families were the hit.

As she opened them she said "This is what I wished for" (even though she had never mentioned it before).

She has played with them ever since. She got the tea party set and some figures. One tip - make sure you buy the figures separately as although they are shown on the box, they aren't included in the sets.

Sylvanian families are rather fabulous little animal families. Including Neil and Christine Hamilton the hamsters.

Also don't forget dressing up shoes they are always a winner got a set of them from a catalogue shop online but I can't for the life rmember which one.

oooh, any of them. The Inferiorettes got a set each last Christmas - can't even remember which, but they were enchanted.

We gave our DD the pink fisher price camera for her 4th birthday and it has been a complete hit.
It holds up to 100 pics which can then be downloaded and printed on computer.
Very easy and 4 year old friendly to use.
She now takes pictures of everything including all meals prior to eating them and me every time i breastfeed DS!!

Www, I would just get a family, any family, and some kind of playset- even a set of furniture that can be used on its own, like a few beds or something. If you want to spend more then a little cottage would be good. The best thing is that you never need to worry about presents again for years as there's always something they haven't got yet Dd is 9 and is desperate for the St John's School for Christmas... Or even the hotel...
