oooh how exciting!
I'm crap at decorations but there's always loads of good stuff in the cheap shops near to halloween. Tesco's, Sainsbury's do loads of cakes and stuff too.

OOhh fab!

a place near me does 200 black drinking straws for £1

i could post you a pack?

i just think 'halloween' everytime i see them

you could make jelly pots with grapes int hem and say they are eyes, lol

you'll get good decorations in teh supermarkets and woolies.

I have a very good 'spooky party' book. Think it was an M&S one. ALso, lots of the mumsy women's mags do features on hallowe'en party stuff for kids so flick through some mags.

i will have to look out more.
to be honest i didnt even think of halloween until today. my son was asking when his birthday is ( july) i was like omg we just gone past all that its ages away, i was like xmas is before that, then i thought omg halloween!! good excuse for a mini party, i dont think ill invite lots cause house is a mess but thought even if its just my 3 children and a couple of there friends it be a nice thing to do. i did one when my son was 3. but thought be nice to make some spooky cakes and do a few bits. i like the grapes idea LOL!!! i heard asda do good bits but not sure how long till they start. its only next month!! poundland prob end up doin ga few bits too i suppose. im just gettin excited. i love planning things, everytime i finish planning a party or something im like hmm next plan, only reason i prob forgot about halloween is because i been too busy gettin quotes for our garden plans LOL!! maybe i should put my efforts into making money rather than spending it!!....... but halloween soon!!!!!!! LOL

last year for trick or treat purposes ( which can be used for a party) i got green jelly and put in a pumpkin to set.

you could do this with mini pumpkins for a party

i actually let it half set wit sweets and lollies in and then made the children
DELVE INTO THE PUMPKIN BRAIIIIIIIIINs for sweets.

they thought it was fab - it was all gooey ans syruppy and mushy

i usually give out tangerines as it happens.

i suppose you could do similar with oranges

A fun thing for food which doubles as a party activity is monster face pizzas. Get mini bases, spread on the tomato paste and let them make monster faces with bits of veg, ham, whatever.

sarahkent85 · 01/09/2007 23:29

god where do you get these ideas from!
im so rubbish and im a childminder. how shameful is that!!! i love the brains idea! and the pizzas, if i get them to help they will love it too. we did pizzas but not faces. hmm maybe an excuse for some practise sessions before hand ;) lol

I get these ideas fvrom having a book and seeing things in a few mags. And having to organise hallowe'en things for children older than yours.

custardo just has a vivid imagination.

You'll be the same in a few years, sarah

WE do apple bobbimg, pumpkin carving, scary hat/mask making etc. We do pin the nose on the skeleton as well. I love custys idea but my SIL's kids wouldn't like it. I dye cakes green and fill them with red jam. The lsit goes on. There are some good ideas on websites or a couple of books.
