Where having an outdoor birthday party next weekend and I'd like to buy some decorations for the garden (and possibly inside too). Where should I be looking for nice bits (bunting etc) that won't break the bank?

Balloons are cheap and make a big splash if you choose only one or two colours for them.

You can make swags or even arches out of them. Youtube has loads of tutorials. Those with old fashioned streamers look great.

Add a few of the paper "fan" things which open out into balls...hang these in bunches from plastic ribbon in strategic places.

Paint your own Happy Birthday banner. They look much better than those piddly little foil ones which are always so small.

I use lining paper from a cheap shop...just use poster paint.

I got some really long plastic bunting that has seen quite a few parties in the garden.

Lots here www.google.co.uk/search?q=plastic.bunting&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari#sbfbu=1&pi=plastic.bunting
