Oh dear-why does everything happen at once?

Its dds 1st birthday on monday and i'd planned a picnic at the local country park-quite informal-just some food and good natter just with her little friends and mums (family do the following weekend)

The problem is the blooming rain. What the hell am I going to do if it's raining-I really don't want to cancel but our house is really small and it would be a real squeeze with people sitting on the floor etc.

Think it'll be 8-9 mums with babies but as its the school hols pos a couple of older children......HELP!

I know I don't have many options...i'm stuck.
Plus its my birthday on sat and we are away and i've got a monster cold and my grandma passed away on weds so i'm really feeling the pressure

Sorry for the rambling think it just helped to get it off my chest!

Anyone know what the weather is likely to be doing on mon afternoon?

DD1's birthday is at the end of September - the weather's notoriously unreliable then. For her first birthday we had 9 one year olds and BOTH sets of parents as it was on a Saturday ... it was raining though so we had to have it in the house (not the garden as originally planned). It was chaos, a real squash and a squeeze and creepy crawly children everywhere, you had to watch where you put your feet BUT when it came down to it, it didn't matter. It's the pre-empting bit that's a real worry but when you have no choice and you've accepted it then it's just fine and actually quite fun in a "mental note to self, try something else next year" kind of way!!

Know that's not really any help but wanted to say .... whatever the weather and wherever you end up, I hope you have a wonderful couple of birthday's!

Thanks snowstorm-think i've resigned myself to a squashed in our tiny house party-now just going to have to find the time to tidy and clean-!

aww Sammy I know exactly how you feel, its my dd's 1st birthday in a couple of weeks and all year I've been planning a bbq in our garden (i even made dh sort the garden out earlier in the year and buy new garden furniture!!), now I have resigned myself to a party in our house. Instead of having a party at a set time, we've decided to have a sort of open house so hopefully people will spread out the times that they come so I dont have to fit everyone in at the same time!
Well thats the new plan for now anyway!!
I hope your party goes well whatever you do (you'll have to let me know), and happy birthday to your dd!
