Will people think i am 'showing off' with party bags.

I am in the process of planning my child's party, and have just sorted the party bags. I added up the cost of buying the usual plastic rubbish and was quite shocked how expensive it would be! I found on a craft website a paint your own money box in the theme of the party. they are £1.50 each, reduced from £3.50/. my mum looked at them and said she thinks other mums will think im showing off by giving the kids a nice gift.

May i ask your opinions? would you think of it as a 'showy' party bag gift?

No i think it's a much better idea than a bag of plastic shit like you normally get!

Book packs from the Book People work out at about £1 or £1.50 per book - that plus a mini packet of and it’s a winner where I’m from!

I would much prefer the paint your own money box and wouldn’t think you were showing off. I would probably assume you had got them for a good price. The mums at DDs nursery have started choosing to do a small, nice gift instead of traditional party bags. So far we have had story books, pencils and notebooks, mini rubber ducks and cress in a decorated yoghurt pot.

I think the other mums will welcome something that isn't so throwaway there is a party bag shift since mine were young kids and i thi k a book or acraft kit is better than something that is left in thecar till the next party

I think that's a lovely idea! On a side note, where were you looking for party bags? I've always given ours themed ones from fun party bags - they're pre filled and super affordable!

Nobody will think you're showing off, you can get them in poundland. It's hardly ostentatious.

I personally think party bags should go but I’m not brave enough to be the first to start that trend. I would much prefer the money box to a bag of tat which will be in the bin within a week.

They are from hobby craft. They were actually cheaper than the baker Ross ones.
