Any ideas for my 30th next February? Have a three year old daughter and a one year old daughter. and a lovely husband. He has lots of friends, the girls have lots of friends, i have not so much. Would worry if I threw a party not so many people would come, which makes me a bit sad. But want to do SOMETHING which makes me feel young and glamorous again. dh willing to throw surprise party but what if no one turned up...?

Putting the party to one side for a minute.... reading between the lines, are you saying you don't have as many friends as you would like? Or was that just a statement of fact and you're happy with that situation?

I am having a 30th party this month and am crapping myself that no-one will come!!

I've always played down my birthday for this reason and for the past few years I've said I'll have a 'do' on my 30th. There was no escaping it because I'd kind of promised myself. I wrote a big list of everyone I knew and have just invited everybody - so far I've got about 35 and they are all people who are very important to me so even if it is 35 people in the 100 capacity room i have hired (eeek!) I know they will all make it very special for me.

I have to say that I sometimes wish I'd just had a meal planned but I know that this is very boring really and I've always done it, its the easy option!

Organise your party and even if it is only your nearest and dearest are there you will feel great.

You could do what my Mum did on her thirtieth and throw a bin full of food all over the floor because my Dad dropped a bit of his chinese meal on the floor. I think she had 'isshooooos' about being thirty!

I of course will act with complete decorum when it is my turn to be thirty, simply by denying all knowledge and throwing a 21st birthday celebration!

funkimummy · 11/07/2007 19:53

I'm 21 next year

babblington · 13/07/2007 21:22

Gosh - thanks for replies - I haven't checked in ages as I thought no one had replied! MBPF - PLEASE let me know how it goes!! Sounds like exactly what i was thinking...
Lilolil - I am very happy, rather like having aquaintances, not very good with friends! Funkimummy - as I would ahve to clean it up, I was rather hoping for something a little more glam and grown up (child free!!) where I get to wear something incredible and feel thin for a moment...

we went away just the 2 of us to celebrate dh 30th it was very very very nice for both of us!

babblington · 13/07/2007 21:43

yes - in principle I like the idea of doing something small and intimate - but it's MY 30th BIRTHDAY!!! and I've been pregnant for the last 3 years (on and off obviously!) planning No.3 for just after I'm 30, so would quite like to bow out of the social scene with a bang...

For my 40th, (quite a few years ago now!) kept it fairly simple: Disco with 70s and 80s music and buffet. We all had a blast. People enjoyed being able to go out and have a good boogie, to music they knew, without being surrounded by kids young enough to be their children. If it's your sort of thing, would go for it! (tho I guess you'll need 80s and 90s music, you young thing!)
Re my previous comments - if you re-read your OP with my comments in mind, then you'll see where I was coming from. Didn't mean to offend you in anyway, but I couldn't decide whether you were happy with that situation or not)

TippiHedren · 13/07/2007 23:59

Have a party,............i will come!

PinkMartini · 14/07/2007 00:05

Babblington, that's exactly what I want:
"I was rather hoping for something a little more glam and grown up (child free!!) where I get to wear something incredible and feel thin for a moment..."

(except we are ttc number 1 and I'm rather hoping to be pg by then (it's another few months away - in fact, I'm rather hoping i'll be past 12 wks and can announce...see how carried away my little reverie is ...how am I going to look thin if I'm pg and I'm not thin now?!)

Still haven't decided what to do/where to do it.
