My DS is 1 in a couple of weeks and my inlaws keep asking what can they get him. Any ideas? We have all the clothes and toys we could ever need (and buy most second hand anyway). I wondered about asking if they could contribute to his Child Trust Fund - but feel that they might be a bit put out at that suggestion. Any ideas gratefully received.!

The best gift we received for my ds's first birthday was a Thomas the Tank washable apron. He has used it constantly since. At one , you feel that they might not need things like this but they do very quickly!!
Hope he has a great Birthday

What about kids gardening kit (little plastic trowel / bucket / etc) with gardening apron? Fun, dirt, edjoocayshunal and all that....

Thank you for all the brilliant ideas.

Ruddynorah and aimidawish: couldn't wait for the inlaws and have bought him a wheely bug myself. Thank you for the brilliant idea. Never seen them before.

Walbert: good call. Was gardening today and realized that he could be 'helping' soon.

Thank you all. MN rules!
