Would you have your child's Birthday Party on Mothers Day

Just that really. I didn't realise it was Mother's Day when I booked it and was struggling for dates around my DS's actual birthday as they were all booked up. Now someone has made a comment that people may not come and to see how the responses go. I've only just sent the invitations out.

It very much depends what time the party is. It might be nice for dads to take the kids to give mum a couple of hours to herself but we tend to go out for lunch so I wouldn't want it to impact on that.

We have church in the morning and then I usually cook for mum and mil at mine so it would be a no from us.

Ahh op how annoying for you ! Not a day I'd Pick (I know you didn't knowingly !) as each family have their own traditions and some travel away to see family. BUT unless I was working I'd let my DC attend :)

My daughters birthday clashes with Father's Day. I try and avoid but if I had to do that day would do first or last thing leaving lunchtime free.

Yes. But then we don't "do" Mothers/Father's/Valentine's type days so I guess it depends really.

I’d change it, sorry. Our local junior league scheduled an important match for Mother’s Day. Both clubs struggled to raise teams and there were loads of complaints.

I did this a couple of years ago, before sending the invites I text the parents first apologising and for them to just let me know ASAP, so I could make alternative arrangements (cancel party have family get together instead).

I did however explain to my DC (7) potentially what could happen and gave them a choice of an alternative (bowling ,pictures +restaurant,) just so they still felt a little in control of choices being made about him.

Although not prefect he knew he had an alternative and was still exited for his birthday.

As it was all agreed to come, the day wasn't an issue and my son had a fab time with his school friends.

I also brought in cupcakes for the mothers to say thank you and acknowledge the day it's self

The party was at tea time though so may of been a factor.

Actually, I offered to rebook and the parents were great about it.

I didn’t rebook. All the kids came. And every mum had a couple of hours to herself. It was my Mother’s Day gift to them!

Just write an email/ message explaining the predicament and if parents are mostly fine with it, have the party.

I’m one of those ‘every day is mother’s day’ types. I’d let my kids go to a party on Mother’s Day.

We are. 12-2. People don't have to come if they don't want to and I feel like it's not too early that people can't have a special lie in and it's not too late that people can't go on to lunch or whatever they want to do

Thanks everyone. I've booked the party 12-2pm. 15 invites have been sent out and so far 2 have said no and 6 have said yes.
I appreciate the invites were sent out a few weeks in advance so may not get responses until nearer the time.
