Help me plan a surprise 30th

I'm just starting to sort out a surprise 30th for my OH for next year and I need your help!

I'm going to cater it myself to try and keep the cost down but when I'm having a look around I really don't have a clue where to start! Can anyone recommend supermarket sandwich platters, other party food etc?!

Costco is the best bet if you have one local? Great food platters/cakes, so much choice.. and the cost is very reasonable!
