2 Concert Tickets as a Birthday Present.

My OH's birthday is very close to Christmas, so I never really know how much to spend! I've settled on tickets to a concert for a band my OH likes, they're £55 each. Should I count the price of the two I'm buying (£110) or just the £55 towards total birthday spend?

If it's the £110 then it probably overlaps with Christmas a bit too, it's just that I'll be going with him so the other ticket is really for me... Thoughts?

For context: We're in our mid 20s and have a fairly low income but live quite frugally so can afford a treat every now and again.

I should probably clarify, will he know and/or care how much you spend on him? Just get him the gifts for the both events and give him them.

I guess I'm just weird then . He won't tell me off or anything if he thinks I'm spending too much I just don't want him to feel hard done by! Doesn't everyone have a rough spending goal for birthdays and Christmas's? I'd normally spend about £70 on him for each event, depending on what he wants/needs.

I already asked his friends that are local if they wanted to come as well and make a thing of it but they aren't into the band, we do most things together so I don't feel bad for assuming I'll go with him.

I was just questioning why it matters what amount you spend. You have got him a very fun generous thoughtful gift.

Its up to you if you want to get him more for Christmas or split it. I don’t think there’s a norm that you can seek advice for.

Not sure why OP said it’s weird! Surely most people have a budget for Christmas/Birthday presents.

Organis and pay for everything else on your night out too, so it feels like a treat for him (travel,babysitter, a meal/drinks).

Yeah I didn't think I was the only one who budgeted, tbh though I use MN to ask the questions that are a bit odd to ask friends and family! We're going to see Hozier
