I just give out sweets. For the 5 plus children it’s a mix of lollies, little bags of haribo and cheap fruit chews from Lidl, for the younger children I have mini packs of smarties and milky bar buttons. I only ever buy sweets which are individually wrapped as well, both for hygiene and stickiness reasons.

I burn the multipack of Haribo or similar. Sometimes I buy little pound shop toys if I see good value on them.
Sometimes a put money in (twenty pence coins)

Last year I stole an idea from another mumsnetter and drew wee pumpkin faces on a few clementines and added them into the bowl (plenty of choc etc. as well of course). It was mostly for decoration and I was expecting to have them all left over at the end of the night, but quite a few kids chose them as well as a sweetie.

Thanks I think I'll get the clementines , I like that idea
