Party in really tiny back yard

We are having a party tea for ds who will turn 7 next month.

How can we entertain the 8 kids (all dc of family friends) that he wants to have?? They are mostly boys (two 2 year olds, two 4 year olds and four aged 7) and some are fairly active kids and I don’t want them to be bored!

We have a tiny outdoor space so they can’t run around at all.

I’m thinking:

A lovely party tea on picnic rugs
Piñata
Some kind of treasure hunt
Bubble blowing kits
Ice creams

Any other ideas wise mneters?

Should have explained the two and fours are siblings of the four 7 year old friends

Put a big white sheet of paper up on the wall/fence and get them to paint it throughout the party? Better still, make it a white tablecloth and fabric paints and then it becomes the birthday party tablecloth that they can add to every year?

How long is the party? With the tea, a couple of games and the stuff tou’ve already listed there might not be too much time to fill.

Just had another few ideas - musical bumps/musical statues with prizes?

Big bucket/tub of water and toys for the smaller ones, kinetic sand for the older ones?

Thread lots of Hula Hoops, Cheerios, Polos or mini donuts onto two long pieces of string. Get adults to hold the strings up at child height. Then divide the children into two teams. With their hands behind their backs, they’ve got to eat all until the string is empty. The first team to finish is the winner.

Freeze some toys (such as plastic animals) in large plastic tubs and have the children try to break the toys out by spraying with water pistols or digging with spoons…

The Maltesers game - Place a large bowl of maltesers in the middle of the circle of children. Each child needs a straw and a paper cup. They roll a dice until someone gets a six. When they do, they have to try to get as many maltesers into their cup by sucking through the straw. They keep doing this until another person rolls a six and starts having a go. This is lots of fun as children keep laughing as they try to suck up the maltesers!

You could get them to make their own pizzas.

Does it have to be in your back garden? Bits this age love to run about, couldn't you have the party in a park? I did this with my DS when he was 8. We took a huge picnic, we did a few games, but they spent most of the time playing football.

Hmm good point and there is a really nice park 5 minutes away - we could say picnic there but we also have family coming and I know they will prefer to be at home

We usually take stuff to the local park. Maybe your family can put up with a couple of hours in the park and then have family only time back at yours?

Yes maybe! Maybe we do it we arrive at ours, bit of chat, wait until everyone there, then walk to park taking lunch (and several footballs) with us. Hang piñata up at park!

Head home for a few party games ice creams, bit more chilled out playing, bubbles and then home?

Create two identical obstacle courses with hoops to crawl through, blankets to wriggle under, and chairs to run around. Place a full bowl of jelly at one end of the course and an empty bowl at the other end. Make two teams and give each guest them a spoon. Each team races the other to take jelly from the first bowl and place it in the second. The winning team is the one who manages to successfully transfer the most jelly.
