Party Ideas for a Dog-obsessed boy?

He would love a dog and we hope to be in a position to get him one in a year's time. In the meantime, he spends all his time talking about breeds or reading his dog encyclopaedia! His 10th birthday is next month and I'd love some ideas for a small party or outing that will make him really happy ie involve dogs in some way or other. We are in south-east London.

What about inviting a therapet along as the guest of honour?
