I will be 50 years old in 2018. I've started thinking of ways to celebrate with local friends. DH and I have a small circle of friends and I'm looking at ways to involve our friends in my birthday celebration.
I'm talking 20 people maximum - all adults, no kids - including ourselves. Our friends are in their early 50s to early 60s.
I was thinking of going out for a meal locally - to a restaurant that caters to everyone's taste and budget. DH and I would pay for all the booze for the evening. Everyone pays for their own food. Is this a good idea or not?
I really don't want to do any cooking on my birthday hence the idea of going out for a meal.
I know a few of our friends have put on expensive parties for their 50th birthdays and other milestone occasions in the past. Sadly DH and I are not in a position to afford this so I'm trying to think of something that would include all our friends but that doesn't cost the earth.
For information I'm also planning a meal out in a restaurant with DH's family on a different date. This meal would be fully funded by us (food + drinks). DH's family don't live near us so we'll travel to theirs and we'll book a restaurant in the town where they live.
I welcome your suggestions and ideas. Thank you. (I have also posted this thread on Chat).
