my sister did a cd compilation thing but just for thsoe in the wedding party - she hasked everyoen their fave song and did that -= I do listen to it a lot, quite eclectic

keepsakes are often naff dust collectors - something edible or drinkable best I think if youa re going to do them

chocy place in brighton - my god have you have had a piece of cake from their cafe??? It's HUGE! a friend and I coudlnt finish one piece between the two fo us , was v v nice tho

I got a marzipan Harry Potter once...

Whisky miniatures are nice. But for some reason those always seem to go to the men with something more "girly" for the women

Astrophe · 20/04/2007 14:00

you got a harry potter sweet at a wedding ?

Astrophe · 20/04/2007 14:00

at a wedding i meant

AnguaVonUberwald · 20/04/2007 14:00

Have to agree with Mrs Badger. We didn't have wedding favours at all. Lots of time, money and stress, and mostly people just leave them on the table

escape · 20/04/2007 14:00

your right about the miniatures, I really didn't know what to choose for the ladies, thought baileys was a 'love it or hate iot choice' so settled on the southern comfort for some reason - probably got talked into it, just like everything else at the wedding - but that's another thread!

Astrophe · 20/04/2007 14:02

Angua, that is sooooo rude (to leave them on the tabel I mean, not that you didn't have them!), who would do that? However much I disliked a favour I wouldn't leave it on te table, I've never seen that happen TBH.

I suppose its for the bride realy isn't it? If she want to have them, fine. I personally loved doing ours, don't know about everyone else!

Katy44 · 20/04/2007 14:03

miniatures are a good idea but check with the reception venue first, we were told we couldn't bring our own drink, and that included alcoholic favours!!

youDontHaveToBeCrazyToWorkHere · 20/04/2007 14:04

no
dont have em
we didnt
save some money

saltire · 20/04/2007 14:06

My friend got this company to make up hers. They put the tablet into lace cloths and tied it with tartan ribbon to match the kilts

here

Another friend got lots of double horseshoes,(two interlinked IYSWIM) and then got some ribbon to match the bridesmaids and threaded it through the bottom. it worked out quite cheply as well

YUK AT LACE FABRIC

saltire · 20/04/2007 14:07

Ok, no need to shout

ChippyMinton · 20/04/2007 14:12

DT is your sister have a theme, or something to do with the venue, or the bride & groom's hobbies or something that you could use for inspiration? we got miniature metal buckets with chocs in, at a seaside wedding. I had little bags of choc hearts with handmade labels (we got married end of Feb, so lots of reduced valentines items around).

Apostrophe -- it's more sensible than it sounds. The wedding was in a town that was famous (well, in a not-terribly-famous kind of way) for its Things Made Out Of Marzipan, so all the guests got Things Made Out Of Marzipan as favours, and mine happened to be Harry Potter.

aahh, though she had a HP themed wedding! Yack!

yomellamoHelly · 20/04/2007 14:22

Last "do" we went to they gave a shot glass and miniature whisky to the men and a dried rose in a tiny pot to the women. Personally I thought it was OTT and whilst we took them home we didn't keep them.
Chocs would have gone down well though, but would have been equally happy without anything.

My friend bought mini Jack Daniels for the men and Lush bath bombs for the ladies.

DimpledThighs · 20/04/2007 21:04

bath bombs are a good idea too.

I had some of these
swizzles lovehearts

Rumpel · 20/04/2007 21:14

I made velvet pouches, lined with silver satin and put semi-precious stones, with a little note explaining their healing benefits, and rose petals in mine.
I also think tree seeds are a nice idea.

tribpot · 20/04/2007 21:17

I didn't have them, but my friend had fabulous ones - simply a packet of wildflower seeds (cost: 9p) with a request to scatter them to allow the butterfly population to flourish. We've been waiting to own our home to scatter ours, so they are still in the fridge. But I will prob scatter one packet before we leave here.

Rumpel · 20/04/2007 21:17

Mini whisky for men with personalised labels.
Youcould put the puches in a drawer to scent them so no waste.
