Dinner party question

Ok, so on Saturday I'm finally having this dinner party I've been planning for about 3 months now! I've already posted several times about the menu, now I have a question about seating. I'm having 10 people (including DH & I). My dining room table comfortably seats 8 but if you put 2 people on each of the short sides 10 can fit. It will be a little bit cosy.

Alternatively I can stick an extra table on the end to make more room. The disadvantages to this are a)my dining room isn't that big so that means the chairs will be right at the edges of the room and people will have to squeeze to get round to the far side of the table; b)the table will then be so long that people at one end can't possibly speak to people at the other end and c)I'll need to use 2 different tablecloths as I don't have one that will fit across both tables.

I would rather be cosy and have everyone be able to talk to each other more easily. DH would rather have the extra room. Can I get a MN vote please?

I favour space at a table myself, unless your guests know each other well.

Depends on how much space you will need on te table for serving dishes etc.

I think extra table; nothing worse than having to eat with your elbows clamped to your side.

I would do the cosy way, makes everyone feel included, comfortable & more at ease!

go for cozy

Ok, so far the vote is 3-2 in favour of the extra table.....
