40th birthday ideas?

Good evening. My husband turns 40 in April. Would like to arrange something memorable but don't know where to start. Can anyone recommend anything that might inspire me? Would like to involve our sons who're 3 and 7 and keeping costs down would be helpful too. Thank you x

You need to gi e us more of a clue.
Do you want to go away - the 4 of you?
Or have a party with wider circle of friends?
Or some kind of day trip?
Or special 'experience'?
Or (wider) family meal?

Does he like sport or theatre or music or adventure?

Thanks for your response. I was thinking of a day out just the 4 of us or a night or 2 away. He likes film, literature, some sports (although a spectator, not to participate).

Hmm, well my experience with little children and outing is - if you choose something for one of the parents, then no-one gets to enjoy it. If you are taking a 3 and 7 yr old then you need to aim the day at them, then everyone will have a good time. Alternatively, arrange a sitter and do something your dh would particularly enjoy.
