bloody brilliant idea for anyone with a birthday PARTY in MARCH..

i absolutely hate party bags, as i have said on mn before. dd1 will be having her 5th bday next month and i've been wandering what to give her guests (if anything).

my friend and i were chatting and she had the fantastic idea of giving each child a comic relief red nose and a piece of cake when they go home. inspired, or what?!

That is a fantastic idea!!!! Ds's birthday is in April, so too late. His b'day is always aound Easter so I always give a 99p buttons easter egg and a piece of cake.

I was really looking forward to my dd's birthday until I realised about party bags then just panicked. My SIL and I had a joint aprty as our children are the same age (6 days different) she suggested not to bother but then my friends daughter asked about the party bag so I felt obliged to do some. its awful as now it seems the only reason children go to a party is for a party bag! I remember being happy taking a present and coming home with a piece of cake or a sweet from the layer of pass the parcel (if there was one - a sweet that is- everyone puts sweets in everylayer now!!!)

Anyway I ended up buying some cheap funsize goody bags and splitting them and not bothering with toys. After hiring hall and doing all food and buying her pressie I had run out of money!

No more parties for awhile!!!

StrawberrySnowflakes - Was mine last year and I never gave out party bags for that!! Maybe you should ask your guests to bring you party bag !!!! That would be more fun!

Why should you have to give out presents on your birthday thats what I dont get about it all!

It is dd2's 5th birthday in march too.

I'm going to search for comic relief noses next week.

my friend used to give all guests a packets of sweets (smarties etc) and they were all happy with that. X
