Taking 3 year old ds out for the day instead of a party.

Is a day out to the nat. railway museum to see thomas as good as a birthday party for my 3 year old thomas nut? Feel a bit guilty that no party is organised but we have such a small house and the halls were booked.

My dd is 3 in April, I'm planning on a day out instead of a party. We're similar in that house is too small etc I've decided I'm not doing a party until she asks for one.

Up till the age of 5 all mine will have days out instead of parties. I always said no parties till they started school - and ds1 had his first party (at home) last month and although I really enjoyed it, I'm glad we have a few years with the younger 2 of birthday days out!

Enjoy your day - when he gets to school you'll be on the none stop party merry-go- round.

i think he'd prefer the thomas day out, just that he also said,'its my birthday. will i get cake and a present' and although he didnt say he'd like a party, i thought it might all be linked together in his mind. He is always such a star, and has just started pre school but is not enjoying it much because he said the children shouted 'no' at him when he wanted to play with the trains.

i thought that a party might help him make friends. but anyway, i feel better knowing that others have done days out.

We went to London Aquarium for DD's 3rd birthday last year and she still talks about it (she's 4 next week!)
