Art party ideas please

My 7 year old DD would like have an art/craft party at home for her and 6-7 friends. Has anyone done this or been to something similar before? I'm not the most arty person so I'd be really grateful for some ideas that they would enjoy and would be easy to set up/supervise. Thank you!

Spring bulbs are in the shops now so you could buy bulbs, compost and some terracotta pots they could decorate, plant the bulbs and then make some plant labels to put in the pots.

They can then do some colouring/painting pictures of what their bulbs will look like when they come up in spring, or make some tissue paper flowers on sticks.

Have a look on Baker Ross website or Hobbycraft they have lots of craft kits. Maybe decorate a bag or box then you can fill with sweets at the end as a party bag?

Hobbycraft is your friend here. Even if it's just for ideas and buy the stuff elsewhere cheaper.

I'd say decorate a photo frame and get a picture with all the girls near the cake on the day. Then they have a little keepsake too.

Decorate tiaras, trinket boxes, make masks, decorate hanging decorations.

Just got back to this thread after a busy day. Thank you for the ideas. DD really liked the flowerpot idea and we've had a look on the Baker Ross website too.

I was in home bargins.today and they had canvas's for £1 and art stuff too. There is a franchise (the name escapes me) that does art parties. It wasn't the most expensive party package if I remember correctly. You could also get plain white/brown paper bags and decorate them and that's both parry bags and an activity done. You could also get plain white ts from ebay and fabric pens /iron transfers too. Good luck. If you have space and a garden you could make paint bombs and drop them from a height or paint bubbles (Google or pintrest them). Have fun!

Decoupage is quite good for that age group. Hobbycraft often have offers on their papier mache models. I just use normal glue and tissue paper from poundland. Do it at the beginning of the party, put them in front of a heater and should be ok to take home.

My DD went to one where the mum had bought plain white t shirts and fabric paints, and they decorated their own. Also made bead bracelets and necklaces. Friend said it wasn't difficult, and not expensive compared with the cost of hiring somewhere. T shirts and jewellery also formed the party bags!

Pinterest is your friend for this sort of thing! Loads of great ideas with varying levels of difficulty on there.
