We're very shortly going to move quite far away and oldest dd will be leaving friends in year 1. I'm going to do a leaving tea for about 10 of them. Does anyone have any ideas of how to make it special for dd. I thought of getting a notebook where they can put in why she is their friend, and an address book for her to get everyones name in.
Love some more ideas if anyone's got some.

Cards for all the guests to take home, that include your new address.
A few disposable cameras for them all to take photos at the party, which you can develop and put in an album.

We did more or less what you did - gave them sheets of paper where they could draw pictures of themselves, write about themselves, that sort of thing, then we stapled it all together into a "friendship" book. Like the idea of photos and an address book too.

When we moved away last year ds1's reception class made him a huge card in which they all signed their names and the teachers and TAs wrote little messages. Ds1 still treasures it and takes it out to look at every so often, even though it's quite obvious that he's forgotten a lot of the children.

Why not take a photo of each child to paste into the book and write their name underneath?

Just asked my 5 yr old son - He said he would feel sad because he would miss his friends. To make it a special party he would like to play football. He would draw a picture to give to them.

Not sure he gets what I am on about!!!
