How can we decorate the walls of the Scout Hut to make it look good for a party?

The venue is perfect in all aspects apart from the walls which are looking a tad tired and have some posters etc on them.
Any ideas please of how to cover them without spending an absolute fortune?
The room is approx 60ft X 40ft.
TIA

Bunting and balloons?

Sallyhasleftthebuilding · 27/10/2015 16:36

Fairy lights

Thanks guys
Trouble is the wall needs completely covering and then fairy lights added.
How can I do that as quickly and easily as possible?

kids or adult party? Budget?

Sallyhasleftthebuilding · 27/10/2015 16:58

You could hang material.

My 50th!
If I hang material, what will I then put on top,of the material to make it look funky/stylish/ party like rather then just being material?

choices:
hire a party/scene setting company to do it for you.
hire a marquee lining company
buy a disposable lining you can cut to shape and tack it/staple it up leisure-interiors.com/disposable.html
buy foil curtains from ebay and make everything metallic. you'll need 67 of these

Entirely depends on what kind of party it is, what your budget is and what the level of formality is.

Thank you - off to follow the links.

momb, have you used Leisure-interiors yourself?

No, sorry. I just googled the lining options and that came up as a DIy one.
When we married there was a local event decorating firm recommended by the venue. There must be one in your area if you are looking for someone local to do it for you.

Guys, what do you think to putting shimmer curtains round the outside, one silver one purple, one silver one purple and repeat?

See my 4th option above :-)

mckenzie · 03/11/2015 17:56

Thanks momb
That's where I got the idea from but what do you think about one silver one purple rather than a solid colour all the way round?

They are only a doors' width so it might look a bit candystripe/circus tent if you alternate: why not block? So 4/4 or 3/3 rather than 1/1. As long as you buy enough to cover the whole room you can always move them around on the day until you are happy.

thank you Momb. Great idea Smile

Use cheap party tablecloths.. eBay sell them for £1 each. Then hang/stick them as backdrop.
