Party/loot bags

I'm organising our first birthday party for our two dc's. I feel like I am in a foreign land. It seems to suddenly be so expensive!
Anyway, I haven't a lot left in the budget for the party bags- £30 all in for approx. 20 children. I also feel that buying lots of plastic tat is a waste and also environmently unsound.
So I planned to use brown paper lunch type bags with themed grosgrain ribbon tying them shut- it will contain a small paperback themed kids fiction book, a sticker/kids tatoo and a bag of sweets. Does that sounds like a major no no, or okay? Kids are both under 5.

What you have suggested sounds fine. Although, in the past I have just bought plastic sweet bags off Ebay and filled them with sweets, tied with nice ribbon.

Write each child's name on them and store them in a box in alphabetical order. Somebody is bound to drop theirs on the way out of the door.

What about a packet of seeds?

Sounds great to me.
