Number 1 cake tin...?!

dd one next week and not making big fuss. grandparents round for tea and cake...BUT would like to make cake in shape of a number 1. Now all i have to do is find an affordable tin - £25 seems to be the going rate. er.... too much! does anyone know if i could hire a tin (or buy one cheaper - checked ebay)? after all, i won't need it again for another nine years....

alot of specialist cake shops hire out tins for this kinda thing. Have you got one in your local area (try yellow pages online to search for one.

aha, wasn't sure if it was the sort of thing that did get hired out. will do a search and see what turns up - ta!
