Messy Play Party For 1st Birthday

Having a messy play party for DS's 1st Birthday as he loves getting messy and is very good at it! There'll be 7 babies there altogether, all around 12 months old. Any suggestions of good group activities for messy play for this age really appreciated. Parents will be staying so lots of adult hands available to help out and I'm more than happy (and prepared!) for lots of mess!

I wouldn't worry about group activities with one year olds.

Lots of clothes or wet wipes and wine for parents essential though.

How about doing some feet and hand prints.

Roll of lining paper on the floor, get them to walk along it.

That is more than enough, I don't think you need to do anything either tbh!

Erm. Surely a cake smash?

Grow bag trays are great for messy play. I like cornflour and water

Shock that is all.

Thank you everyone, just in case anyone else is looking, I found a couple of great websites... www.theimaginationtree.com and www.learnplayimagine.com both have loads of ideas for messy play.
I think we're going to go with a few rainbow dyed (with food colouring) sensory bins... One jelly with plastic toys hidden inside, one cooked spaghetti and one foamy soap.
Then I'm going to make some homemade puffy paint in squeezy bottles for making pictures.
I'll definitely put on the invites they need messy clothes and spares! And I'll provide lots of wipes, towels and a bath if they need it!

I think this sounds like a fan idea! But make sure you warn people beforehand. I wouldn't bother with aprons, I'd just make sure it was warm enough to strip the babies down to nappies, with wet wipes, bowl of warm water and towels available.

Messy play ideas that have worked well with my two have been - cold spaghetti (if you boil it in sections with food colouring you can make it rainbow coloured), shaving foam, dried rice (ideally with cups to pour or diggers to dig), dry powder paint (provide plastic spoons for mark making in the powder) and homemade playdoh.

We have a tuff spot, they are fan for thus kind of activity.

Fab idea for a party! I may have to steal your idea too ;)
