It is my sons 3rd birthday in a month and I want to do some nice party bags - mini paint sets, bubbles etc. Been on ebay but all looking a bit expensive with delivery cost. Does anyone know anywhere in Notts area where can go to purchase this sort of thing?

have a look in Tesco, Adsa or ToysRus - they all seem to be doing packs of party bag presents

or Party Pieces - I've always found them very helpful

I do a lot of stuff like that on ebay, there are discounts on postage if ordering more than one thing. New postal rates are a bummer though.

There are some really good websites which I recommend, my Favourites are -
www.Partyrama.co.uk
www.partybox.co.uk
These do everything you need for adult and childrens parties.

My favourite for just childrens parties who are really good, quick and cheap delivery etc is -
www.partyark.co.uk

I've just sorted the party bags for my son's forthcoming 3rd bday party. I bought some nice gift bags from Poundland (3 for £1 and big enough to hold a sticker book). Contents will be a sticker book from The Works (99p), a rocket balloon (Poundland), chocolate stars, home made gingerbread man iced with the child's name, slice of birthday cake and a balloon tied onto a plastic wand) which works out to approx £1.50 per bag!)
