Party for 5yo in reception - ok to just choose 10 friends?

Planning a soft play party (I think - DD wants a pirate-dress-up-bring-a-teddy party!) for DD who will be 5. We already have a few friends/cousins to invite so realistically can't invite her class of 30. Is this ok do you think? I'm pretty sure there have been a couple of parties that DD hasn't been invited to so we can't be the first but I don't want to be the stingy parent, ha! What do you think?

I think it is fine to just invite a few.

What is not ok is if you invite 29 out of a class of 30, or 10 girls when there are 11 in the class - IMO!

I think it's okay as long as you are not inviting 9 or 10 out of 11 girls.

My general rule was always:

• half or less of full class - or all class
• half or less of boys - or all boys
• half or less of girls - or all girls

Never just leave 2 or 3 of a significant group out.

Thanks for all your replies. I'd not thought about how many girls out of the total girls she would invite - I'll have to check this out. I haven't got a class list though so it'll be a challenge! I might be strict and say 5 girls and 5 boys and then there will be no way only a couple of each gender will be left out. This is harder than I thought it would be!
