Alice In Wonderland Themed Party

My daughter wants an Alice In Wonderland themed birthday party...

I need ideas

Other than playing card bunting, Paper lanterns and eat me / drink me labels I'm a little bit stumped!

We've had a playing card invitation made and have about 40 adults and 20 children coming.

What can we actually do at the party? The year before last I got soft play, a bouncy castle, a magician and decorated a marquee in the garden with every pink thing I can find... But none of that is very Alicey

Plenty of tea pots, cups and saucers, cakes, jam tarts, dainty sandwiches etc.

Croquet, pin the smile on the Cheshire cat, making/decorating hats then a best hat contest.

A bouncy castle is always fun- could you make a banner for it and transform it into the Queen's castle or the rabbit hole?

And don't forget that TTLG was all based on a chess motif, so you could hire a giant chessboard.

I'd play with different sized things - so all different sized crockery, including some dolls' stuff.

Pin the white/red roses on the rose bush?

Think about the chapters of the books - lots of decorations/games an be adapted depending on age/taste/budget.

How old will she be?

She'll be three. It's her favourite film and she asks us for a tea party like Alice everyday

The other people at the party range from 6 months to 60 years, with the oldest child being about 10.

It might seem crazy for a 3 year old but we like to go all out for parties

Tesco and hobbycraft both sell EAT ME cookie stamps.

You could do a treasure hunt involving lots of 'this wAy' 'that Way' type signs.

Pin the hat on the mad hatter? Grin on the Cheshire Cat?

Dd had an Alice party this year. We played pun the smile on the Cheshire cat and played here we go round the mullberry bush but Alice themed e.g. 'this is the way we grow like Alice, shrink like Alice, grow like Alice' or 'this is the way we cry like the mock turtle' or 'sleep like the dormouse' etc. The plan was to also give put white iced cupcakes and they were to decorate them with red decorations, but with the 2 games plus pass the parcel, a tea party, and cake we ran out of time (2 hours, 10 kids, oldest 6)

Could you make a maze in the garden?

Bouncy castle would work - maybe have someone dressed as the Queen nearby.

Party games:

1. Mad Hatter Hat Toss ? First you will need a Mad Hatter Hat. Then one at a time have the kids toss the hat and mark each one where it falls and let all the kids have a turn and see who can toss it the furthest. Now you can also make numbers on the ground and see if anyone can aim to get the hat on one.

2)Build up your Army ? To play off this you can break your party guests into teams. Give each team a deck or two of Playing Cards and a level stable surface. Give them a set amount of time to build a Tower of Cards (Build up their Army). When the timer goes off which ever team has the most cards standing wins.

3)Tweedledee & TweedleDum Races ? All you need to do is stand 2 guests side by side then tie together their legs in the middle. Then on go let all the pairs race against each other. Add in some fun obstacles so they have to work together and see which team can communicate the best.

4)Red Queen Says ? The Red Queen/Queen of Hearts can be so demanding and you must follow what she says or ?Off with your Head.? Play this game just as you would Simon Says. Have one child be the Red Queen (Birthday Child gets to start) and have them come up with what they want the guests to do. Example; Hop on one foot, Jump in place 2 times etc? Of course if they give a command and don?t say Red Queen says and a guest does it anyway ? they are out of the game. Continue until there is one left and then the winner then gets to play the Red Queen.

You can also think about hiring costumed wonderland birthday party characters like alice ,heart queen and mad hatter.
