Can I add this onto the invitations?

"RSVP by 27/6 - spaces will be given to other children after this."

DS is having a dance party but there are only 24 spaces. A few parents have asked about siblings which I don't mind, but have explained I will need to wait and see if there are any spaces left before I can let them know as we have invited the full 24 people.

Perhaps word it that 'spaces will be given to siblings after this' so it doesn't sound like you have an A list and B list! But otherwise, yes I don't see why not. Perhaps double check if you can with anyone who doesn't RSVP, as I often don't see invitations until its too late because my DD stuffs them in her bag amongst her piles of crap artistic creations.

It's difficult because DS goes to school on transport so I don't see the parents. I could send out reminder slips I suppose. Would you send these out on the 27th or a few days before?

A few days before, just in case the kids don't hand them over that night. It is annoying when you don't get a reply I know, but I would leave one or two spaces free just in case someone turns up who hasn't replied - imagine how heartbreaking it would be to get turned away because your mum forgot to send a text!

Invitations went out in bags yesterday but no one has replied yet :( Maybe I've put them all off coming.

Well had 7 yeses and 4 nos out of 20 invites. Had the last few trickle in today which was the RSVP by date (decided to make it 25/6 so I could send out reminders tomorrow and have a couple more days to see if any more came in) Is it normal to have only a 50% reply rate?

Sadly yes. You're probably lucky to get that many! Hope you can track down the rest of them, but if you don't you should plan for them all to turn up and hope half of them don't bring along a sibling too, yes honestly, it happens!

It is so annoying. I don't understand why people don't. It's hardly difficult is it to quickly send a text. Well I'm over my limit now because I have invited some non-school children to fill the leftover spaces. The venue gave me a guideline of 24 but said that a few extra won't hurt and I've already got 26 plus 1 in a wheelchair and one 14 month old sibling.

Someone told me to get someone to stand by the door with name stickers and ask the children to find their name as they come in. If they haven't got one to say, "Sorry, we didn't know you were coming and we can't fit any more children in."

I know it sounds mean but it is the truth and I did warn them on the invites I would give leftover spaces away after RSVP date. If they had RSVP'd they would have had a space!

I don't think I could rely on him to a) remember to ask or b) remember the answer plus it's likely that the children wouldn't know themselves anyway.
