Birthday during summer hols

My little girl will be 5 at the start of August. She hasn't had a birthday party yet, just family teas etc.

Anyway, my worry is that if I plan the kind of party she would like,book a hall out or similar, people won't turn up. I think she would like to invite the whole foundation 2 class.

She talks about lots of school friends but I don't know a lot of their parents, so would be relying on them rsvp-ing/turning up.

What are peoples experiences of holding a party over the holidays?

Forgot to add obviously some people may be away which of course I would understand!

Could you do it the end of July, just as they finish. Hopefully most people won't have gone away then. Or you could do it the weekend before school breaks up.

I would go for the weekend closest to when they break up tbh,since it's an early August birthday.

Thanks for the replies,we are leicester so kids break up 12th July. Will have to have a think.

My dd's birthday is mid August, we had her party near her actual birthday and invited 24, about 18 could make it so still a good turn out. We handed invited out at nursery before she broke for the holidays, I had to chase a few people up but most texted within a few days of receiving invites.

DS2 is end of August I find it a great excuse to escape a party!
He's 6 this year and has been happy to have his closest friends (mainly my friends DC) come around for tea and a play while adults relax with wine! Its almost like a party but fun for everyone

You see I've always thought of it as a good excuse not to have a 'big' party too :p

I've decided I want her to have one party to look back on, so might wait until next year when she will be in the class she will be with for the whole of primary. At the min she sort of is, but there's 2 reception classes in one open room.
