Didn't notice we'd gotten to the end of the thread!

Oops DW, that doesn't sound good for the Kenwood!

I did get a MagiMix in the end but it's been sat on the side since Friday taunting me as I've yet to have time to play with it! I was facepainting on both Saturday and Sunday and despite only doing 2.5 hours at each event, I managed to lose pretty much the whole day to them. Ah well, at least the extra time yesterday was taken up having lunch with friends so it's not so bad. I'm hoping to have a play with the MagiMix today while DD is at pre school although I'm seeing the consultant at the hospital at lunchtime to talk about my gall bladder which is putting me off eating a bit.

Good luck with that, Blathers. DS made a rhubarb cake in our Magimix last night (bizarre recipe, but it worked)

Tinkerisdead · 13/05/2013 13:28

Let me know how you get on with the gallbladder i know it makes you nervous.

Im a real crossroads at the moment. Ive started 30 day shred to lose this weight and feel like me again. Ive also applied to volunteer at a local school (not dd's new one i'm not that crazy!) with a view to deciding whether to retrain as a teacher or teaching assistant. Big wobble at leaving dd2 though even for a couple of mornings Sad

stealthsquiggle · 13/05/2013 14:36

Wow - big important stuff, DW. Good luck.

stealthsquiggle · 13/05/2013 14:38

I know a couple of people who have gone the volunteering -> retraining route - one to PGCE, the other decided she didn't need the hassle and went for being a TA instead.

Blatherskite · 13/05/2013 15:27

Gall bladder is staying put. Very relieved.

30 days shred works wonders DW. It's hard but it's worth it.

Dsis is a teacher if you ever need any advice on something other than feeding too :)

Is the gall bladder being given a chance to behave, then Wink? I have to say, after a couple of episodes, I couldn't wait to get rid of mine, but I know you are not as stupidly blasé about the process as I was - so good that the consultant agrees Grin.

Tinkerisdead · 13/05/2013 17:01

Oooh i forgot about your sis! Is she a primary teacher?

I dont have a degree so doing a pcge is out, i'd have to do initial teacher training and i cant really fathom how i'm meant to do that because all the places that come up then mention a degree. So far i'm thinking volunteer whilst dd2 is tiny, possibly with partime learning, progressing towards a foundation degree in role?

Tinkerisdead · 13/05/2013 17:01

How come the gallbladder is staying is the stone coming out?

Tinkerisdead · 13/05/2013 17:03

Sorry that was garbled i mean more as a teaching assistant rather than a teacher.

Blatherskite · 13/05/2013 18:15

It's never really misbehaved. I've had about 3 attacks ever and nothing for at least 6 months. They only found it because they were scanning me when when bloods went weird. I am eligible to have it out and if it gives me any problems, I just need to go back to the doctor he says. If I do have it out, it's an all or nothing job apparently so no stone without the bladder round it. He doesn't see me having any problems with the op as I am slim I'm so glad it all flattens out when I lie down Wink

Sis teaches secondary and did a PGCE as a tack on year to her degree but she might still be some help.

slight fly in bake off ointment (stop laughing, DW [glare]) - i now have a broken right hand.

Blatherskite · 16/05/2013 17:42

How on earth did you do that! Shock

OP posts:
stealthsquiggle · 16/05/2013 17:57

I fell over. In the middle of a foreign city, in front of lots of colleagues. I am in a grotty airport lounge on my way home now.

Blatherskite · 16/05/2013 18:38

Ouch!

Has anyone done the inevitable "enjoy your trip" joke yet Grin

OP posts:
Tinkerisdead · 16/05/2013 19:58

Im sorry.

Im one of these evil people who laugh hysterically when people fall over. I cant help it. They make You've Been Framed for people like me. I was put in charge of health and safety at BT. Until a woman fell down a vent hole in the floor up to her knee. Christ i had to go into an office cos tears were rolling down my face. I was put in charge of customer satisfaction after that.

And once dd was jumping in the worlds biggest puddle and i was filming her. She tripped and landed face first into it and i couldnt help her for laughing and the camera was still rolling.

I'm horrible. I do care honestly i do but trips n slips are not my best moments. Grin

stealthsquiggle · 17/05/2013 09:31

Humph.

Problems of the day:

  • finishing a cake with my left hand only
  • shopping for ingredients for DC's cooking plans
  • finding someone to tell me how much of my life to cancel. GP has signed me off until 28/5,but wouldn't commit until I have been to fracture clinic next week. I am supposed to be on a plane on 28th, and today is the last day I can cancel without paying for the flights (work, not me) but cancelling would cause chaos, and I would feel awful if I then turned out to be fine by then Confused

Brew time. And voltarol.

stealthsquiggle · 17/05/2013 10:40

In fact, I am feeling so thoroughly sorry for myself that I am seriously considering calling my DM Blush

Blatherskite · 17/05/2013 11:09

Today might be the day to get Dh and the kids onto 'Stealth's cake decorating masterclass' and get them to help you.

Shopping can be ordered online and delivered. You can't carry bags with one hand.

Could you cancel the trip and book last minute flights if it looks like you're going to be OK after all?

OP posts:
stealthsquiggle · 17/05/2013 11:10

It's less the flights than the meetings involved TBH. Dithering

Blatherskite · 17/05/2013 11:18

Would a broken wrist stop you flying or attending? It's bound to be less sore by then, as long as you're not lugging big bags about, you might still be able to manage with one hand?

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 17/05/2013 11:19

Would you be there with a team who could help you?

OP posts:
Blatherskite · 17/05/2013 11:19

if you do go can you get me some face paints Wink

OP posts:
stealthsquiggle · 17/05/2013 11:30

All of the above is roughly what I was thinking, Blathers. There are other people around, but probably no one doing the A to B to C and back to A which I am due to be doing. Not the US, though, if that is where you need face paints from.

Tinkerisdead · 17/05/2013 11:39

Lol at face paints requests.

Stealth, cancel it. At least then theres time for it all to be rearranged and sorted and if you're well enough ok but baggage etc is still a pain when you're there. Once you've been to fracture clinic you can plan more. Yes you'll feel guilty that you're able to fly but that doesnt stop the logistics of appointments here/baggage there etc.
