6 yo event/party - CHEAP!

Hi all

We are looking endlessly for ideas for 6yo son's forthcoming festivities. Have looked online at everything we can think of, and are considering the village-hall-pizzas-and-balloons option as well. I can't help but think that I am missing a trick and there is a brilliant, cheap option I haven't thought of. Anyone?

My DD had a sleepover party for her 6th birthday.

A few best friends, we played party games, set up a movie and a late night feast.

All it cost was a few pizzas, some popcorn, sweets and a newish movie. No more than £20 for the party itself.

With sleepovers, those who cannot cope with the actual sleepover you can prearrange to be collected 'late at night' and they just come in their PJs and do a PJ party, . We told my DD that she could stay up until 10pm, but we put forward the clocks by an hour so in fact they all went to bed at 9pm.

DD wants this again next year. Bonus!

They took ages to go to sleep, but all the children did and they had a fab time. No-one had to be taken home in the middle of the night, which was my fear.

I LOVE the fact you changed the clocks to let them think they were more rock n roll than they were! Fantastic idea!

Kids club at the cinema? Here it is 2:50 per child with a free adult with each ticket. For and extra 2 pounds you can get a bag of popcorn, drink, raisins - not quite a balanced meal but quite cheap. Just make sure that you have enough adults for the loo trips.

I love that idea, in fact we thought of that too - sadly Birthday Boy is unenamoured with films. Unless we can find a particular film he is keen to see. Good hint re the toilet trips :) thanks.
