Picnic/buffet for 50 kids?

Its DS's 7th birthday party next weekend and I've gone way OTT with the invites! Now starting to panic that we won't be able to seat them all for tea and wondering whether a sit on the floor buffet would work or if I need to try and hire more space at the venue (there is a smaller hall that I could possibly hire as well). I've got an entertainer and the cake/party bags are sorted so its just the food/seating arrangements that I'm worried about now. Would it be chaos having them all get their own food and sitting on the floor? Could we sit them on the floor then hand out the food? Or should I ring the church tomorrow and see if I can hire (at more expense) the other hall as well and set the food out in there. The parish office is only open 2 hours a week so I've got to wait till tomorrow to ring them and get more info. Any party veterans about able to give some advice? I've always done small parties at home before - thought this would be easier but as always haven't thought it through properly. Blush

Have you considered buying those boxes (like happy meal boxes) and making up a little lunch for them (sandwich, couple of cocktail sausages, some grapes crisps, party rings, jammy dodgers ) then they could all sit on the floor without too much chaos.

ooh they look good thanks. I had dismissed that idea as I thought the boxes would be too pricey (and I couldn't be arsed packing them all as well as party bags!) But those are cheaper than I expected. Think its either that or sit them all on table cloths on the floor and hand the food out.

50 kids

I would set out a long table and queue them up, aforesaid box in hand, to file past (in order) sandwiches, fruit, cocktail sausages/saus rolls, party biscuits Biscuit and crisps, then a box of drink.

So there could be both choice and order! And they are used to queuing up for school dinners.

And seriously think about NOT having it in your lounge!

Absolutely no chance of the little critters getting near my lounge timetosmile Church hall/entertainer/2 hours done! I'm starting to feel slightly less stressed about it now I've got a few more ideas but will definitely need a large gin cup of tea after its all over.
