Party bags....do I really??

My DS has just decided at short notice that he would like some friends over on his birthday. He's going to be 11 and is inviting 4 friends. They will be mainly be playing on the Xbox and general messing about. It's more about them spending a bit of time together rather than having a proper party.

I'm going to do food (DS wanted a buffet anyway!)...but would it be expected by other parents to provide party bags at the end??

Probably not at that age. I do them because I like doing them, I get one decent thing and then fill the rest with bulky sweets. But I don't think it's expected at all.

To be honest, I enjoy doing them. But money is tight and think it would be a waste considering the age of the children. They've out-grown little plastic toys, I think Hmm.

Thanks BalloonSlayer Smile

I do because they're easier than distributing thank yous after the party

DD is 11 soon and having friends over but I stopped party bags a couple of years ago - just send home a bit of cake if there is any left over. They don't seem to mind.

Thanks all Grin

I was tending to think along the same lines as you Cezzy....might eat cake when here, might take some home, might do both!

No!
If you do cake they can eat it there and then.

Friends to play/sleepover is the end of party bags.
