Any ideas for a wholesome party? DH and I grew up in the country and now we live in london. Most parties our Dd has been to from her nursery class have had the whole class and either clowns/ bouncy castle/ sports centre / disco type themes; and party bags filled with junk/sweats. Is it ok to put raisins or fruit in a party bag with some small things that are not junk? AIBU? we want to do DDs party at home with simple games. Any tips not to be overrun by 25+ kids? Please help Confused

Party bag idea which worked well was a small pot, little bag of soil and some seeds, nasturtiums/sunflower in a personalised packet with pic of birthday child.
Never put a balloon in as they rarely get blown up at home IME, ditto cake as this is always a squashed mess after being stuck to a serviette and transported home - I always do cake at the party.
I personally never put sweets in or plastic c**p as it irritates me when my DDs receive them.
One child sent home cookie cutters in a party bag which was a nice touch as it had been a cooking party.

Just dont be sucked into the scourge of the party bag!!!

Its my daughters 4th birthday in Sept and for her party bag she will be having

  • Little notepad
  • Gel Pen
  • Push up colour pencil
  • Pack of coloured pencils (ordered Peppa Pig personalised stickers to put on)
  • Bubbles
  • Bouncy Ball
  • Sweetie bag (which I will put about 15-20 sweeties in including choc)
  • Raisins
  • Peppa Pig pencil

Hope this helps?

The whole point of party bags is to be filled with sweets and plastic tat!

Having said that, you could always do a lucky dip or just hand out books or small toys.
