DS has asked for a treasure hunt/adventure party for his8th birthday end july. Having persuaded him that a light sabre battle party was not happening, I was relieved at this suggestion but I am not sure how to do it........any ideas experience please.

No experience of this as yet as DS is too young but have a look at the Percy the Park Keeper story. He sets up a treasure hunt using pictures rather than written clues. It might be easier for you to set up than having to draft written clues? If you haven't got a big garden, you could maybe use a local park for the party, and it'd just be a case of a preliminary trot around with a camera to take photos for clues - as your DS is older, you could maybe take the pictures from odd angles / very close up etc to make it more challenging? Sounds fun though!

No advice but having a giggle at the light sabre idea as a mum of boys.

When I said its sounds to much like someone could get hurt, his answer was "then Mummy we will know who the jedi really are, they wont cry" Grin

You knock on the door,
and then we meet.
Look under the place,
where you wipe your feet.

Scrape the scraps off the plates,
this machine cleans
them all just great.

Up and down, and up and down
you climb these everyday.
You've likely seen the clue on these,
but passed it anyway.

The day has been busy,
I feel half dead.
I?m so very grateful for my ___

How do you like your eggs ? scrambled poached or fried?
Toby likes his with soldiers, but where do the hens like to hide?

Look for a place in our house,
where there is an electric mouse.

It is not in a shoe
and it is not in a jar,
the next clue is hidden
where we park the car.

You?ll find this storage place indoor.
It?s mostly used for coats and shoes,
but sometimes so much more.

Another clue I?d like to give,
is in a place that rhymes with ?

Rhymes with coaster and makes a breakfast food.

It seems our clothes keep returning
to this same machine.
At least it is better than the things
the Victorians used to clean.

Dig for treasure in this place,
or make a sandcastle that?s really ace.

that was the clues from ds1's 8th birthday treasure hunt (some of it doesn't make sense as there were picture clues that haven't copied across, plus a mirror writing clue, and a code clue).
If you want the word file PM me and I will e-mail it to you.

I also have his 6th & 7th (which are pretty similar), which are more straight forward.
Plus pass the parcel forfeits.
