We've hired a hall for DS's birthday party. It won't be a particularly large affair - maybe about 10 - 15 children max. I'd really like to get some entertainers to relieve the stress on me but the quotes I've had back so far have been £££££££.

So I really need some ideas for fun ways to entertain a bunch of 4 year olds for an hour in case we decide to go it alone and I'm hoping MN can help! So any ideas for pirate theme games/activities etc would be much appreciated.

Sainsbo's sell pirate coins (non-chocolate) that you could do a treasure hunt with (and/or actual chocolate coins, or save those for the party bags). Plus they do quite a few pirate-themed plates/cups/table covers etc.

Download some pirate tunes from Amazon/iTunes and do musical statues.

ShirleyKnot has an ongoing thread in parties that's brilliant for ideas, ask there too.

Thanks minibar, I'll have a look at Shirley Knot's thread.

I've had a good search through the archives and found some good ideas:

Pirate variation of pin the tail and the donkey
Matching pairs
Musical islands
Pass the treasure chest
Best dressed pirate competition
Musical pirate statues
Pirate captain says...

All other ideas from successful pirate parties welcome!
