What about finding bits of the grufflo all over the house - his knobbly knees and so forth and then when that's altogether pinning the prickes/wart on rather than a tale?

You could call each room something different - so the bathroom is snake's logpile house and the bedroom Owl's nest......

The mouse is looking for a nut too - how about making mouse ears to stick on head bands and looking for the nut?

Something artsy craftsy - write a load of different physical monster characteristics on little pieces of paper (eg purple tusks, slimy green skin, three legs etc) The kids then pick them out at random and have a go at drawing/cutting/sticking their own 'Gruffalo-esque' monster.

Might possibly be a bit advanced for the 6mo....

Try www.partywithcharacters.co.uk They have a gruffalo & Mouse Mascot and do a gruffalo theme party entertainment they are excellant.

Contactsuzan - thanks, I did check them out but bit too expensive for me!

Thanks everyone else. I really like the idea of a treasure hunt, we could use the area outside the house as there's a bit of greenery and places to hide stuff. Having trouble finding a nice big free pick of the Gruffalo that I can blow up, laminate and cut up. Any ideas?

Hey Pixi,

I'm planning a Gruffalo party for next month. Not got many ideas that you don't already have but I am also on the lookout for a big free Gruffalo to cut up so if you find one please let me know.

Also, what have you done for invites? I'd like to make some rather than just buy them, but my computer skills leave a lot to be desired.

Apart from pass the parcel and pinata we're having free play. Got a tyre swing in the garden and a slide and am borrowing some stuff from my local children's centre if we need to be indoors. I don't fancy facilitating games for a load of 3 year olds! I am going to do a corn flour "lake" to play with as well.

Going to watch the film at the end of the party as a wind down.

And what are you doing for party bags? Anything good and cheap?

Cheers...

Hi Shirleycat, I am doing a treasure hunt, have sold out and got a gruffalo pin the tale as couldn't find decent graphics and aint got time to faff about as party on saturday, so I've bought the official one (right rip off let me tell you!). Invites - didn't bother, texted parents. Im rubbish at cakes so I've opted for a Sainsbury's gruffalo cake, it'll probably be shit, but she'll love it and I aint got time to russle up something she'll dismiss with utter contempt. Im not faffing about with themed party bags, although for the really little ones I've bought a couple of Gruffalo mini book sets and I'll split them, and for olde r ones I've put in litte snakes from Sainsburys. Asda have got them on special at the mo.it sounds like you're doing enough in terms of entertainment. Good luck!
