Help me find a birthday gift

Hello! I am looking for a birthday gift for someone I don't know very well. It's for my Aunt, but I have only met her a few times and I don't know her very well. She's very nice though and I want to get her something thoughtful! So far all I can think of is ornaments, smellies etc. Not very exciting :(
Here are some facts...
*50th birthday
*Gay but single
*Not very girly, doesn't wear make-up
*Diabetic
*Used to be a professional caterer now works in office for council

What's the budget OP?

Something cooking related but more modern ?cake pop book and a few basic ingredients (from hobbycraft); or my stock 'big birthday' gift is a fruit tree - could share cost with your siblings if they haven't got anyything yet.

I'm a student so cheap is good! £15.00 ideally. No siblings but a fruit tree could be a clever idea thank you very much!
