Siblings at parties

I have said when asked that siblings are welcome (loads of room). However, I am not planning of doing party bags or catering for them. Will people know this or would you assume that siblings were party guests too.

It's a minefield.

Just tell the parents in advance.

Pesofanclub · 29/02/2012 20:52

I think you need to make that clear

make it clear, i also say that siblings are welcome, depending on where i am having the party and if its not too many extra i would do party bags, but generally not, i would however provide food for them all, it would be a bit hard to let them come to the party but say you cant eat any food! but if you tell parents in advance then that should be ok?

I think if you said to me that siblings were welcome, I would assume you were catering for them - not necessarily doing party bags though.

Agree with others that you need to clarify before the party, or it could be slightly embarrassing.

Yes, it's a minefield. You need to make your intentions clear. Personally I wouldn't expect a party bag, but I would expect a sibling to be able to pick up a few crisps/a sandwich if you had said siblings welcome.

4madboys · 29/02/2012 20:58

yes what the above two posters have said, i wouldnt expect party bags, but i would assume they could eat some party food! and that is how i have done it, yes to food, generally no to party bags.

Thanks, helpful. They can of course pick at the food, i thought I'd provide loads of plates just not places at the tables (as too hard to know how many). I will make sure there's loads of food though.
