I am trying to plan a party for DD1 and DD2 (4yo and 2yo). We are having it in the parish hall so there is plenty of space for running round in. Last year we hired a bouncy castle and that worked very well but I don't want to do it again for fear of it becoming expected and it is very expensive. I'd really like to do a bubbles and balloon theme as they'll both love it. Any ideas on what to do?

the science museum do a massive bubble thing that you can stand it. you can also get touchable bubbles and large bubbles from tesco (in a sword container) watch out for slippery floors though

I suggest a bubble machine get the children to pop an many as they can and a lot of balloons for games like these.
At the end get them all to pop the balloons!
