Hi

My 3 year old DD has been invited to a 5 year old boy's birthday party on Sunday. His mum is an old friend of mine who I recently got back in touch with.

What can buy for a birthday present?? I only have one DD and all my friends seem to have girls so I'm clueless about what boys of that age like!

I want something half decent but not too expensive, say around £10-£15

As far as I know, he likes superheroes like spiderman and also spongebob.

Thanks in advance!!

I always buy duplo or Lego for boys presents. You should be able to find some for that budget. I think sainsburys sometimes has it on offer.

Depending on what shops you have access to, I have recently bought t-shirts from H&M for ds's friends birthdays (5 & 6 yr olds). I have gone for basic ones with generic picture or slogan but some have spiderman, muppets, mario type characters on too. Have combined it with a small lego set and managed to come in at around £10 all in. Mums have commented that it was good idea cos not just toys/sweets etc.

A kite.
I have bought this for a few of my DD's friends (boys) and it has always gone down well.

But Lego is also a good one.

Lego is the safest choice but if you can get in touch with the mum maybe she can give you tips on what her boy's current favourite character like Spiderman, Bob the Builder etc. Better yet check out the party invitation's theme. It's usually the theme of the birthday boy's favourite character.
