Birthday Present ideas for 6 year old son

My DS is turning 6 in a couple of weeks and I am at a loss to know what to buy him. He loves playing with his DS but I'd like to buy him some toys or games. Any ideas?

thanks for that...he got lots of lego for his 5th birthday but the pieces are really small and think he finds it quite difficult to put things together

My ds turned 6 in January - For his birthday and christmas presents from us and other people he got:

Scalectrix - big hit!
Lego - he's a huge fan although i know you said your son wasn't keen
Playmobil - Dinoaur volcano set, Submarine, and "holiday" set - car with boat on trailer and family etc
Hot wheels set - to add to the many we already have!
Creative kits - to make a spider puppet and a wooden aeroplane - these went down well as well.
