And it looks as though (maybe) 6 members of family are going to be here the weekend before. Now one of these people eats more than you would believe possible. I have looked at my cookware, and it honestly, really would not be enough. Nor do I have enough crockery. So I have come full circle and am considering having a bit of a party. Unsure whether to invite a couple of friends and babies, or whether to maybe do that a couple of days later when my parents are down alone, so have a similar number again to use up all the other food... Oh I don't know. Also MIL very fussy eater.

This is a provisional shopping list copied from my sainsburies, other than the cake (which I might see about costs for tomorrow locally) and paper plates, what have I missed?

Boring I know but am worrying about this. I've never done a party before!

I thin all that sounds fine. Have you got cake and booze?!! Maybe some crisps?

FrightfullyPoshFloss · 13/10/2005 19:30

Crisps are there. Was thinking of having a booze free party. We're skint. And am going to hopefully get to the shop in town to see what sort of cakes they do tomorrow.

floss, i had a party for my dd's birhtdays last week and i roped others into bringing something - just close family and friends - one made a cake, another made a trifle etc

but then im a lazy cook

if anyone asked me if i needed anything i said "a bottle of wine or a six pack" and not one person minded

believe me, you will need a drink

hunkerpumpkin · 13/10/2005 19:38

Sounds lovely - the one thing I'd say would be missing is any sweet bits (but I'm a glutton )

Can't believe he's one next month! Wow!

Also, try googling for a voucher code for free delivery or money off your shop

FrightfullyPoshFloss · 13/10/2005 19:42

Thanks!

I know this year really has flown by.

I meant to also get jelly and icecream, maybe I could get some chocci buttons too .

I still don't know whether to invite friends. Would only be a couple, but none would know each other IYSWIM. Was thinking of maybe trying to use up all the food when my mum is down on his actual B day and invite them over then. Would that be really awful?

No one round here would really be up for that, NP< sorry I missed your message 1st time round. DP's brother is the closest one from his family.. could ramble on but there isn't anyone, really (how sad do I sound?)

No, not awful, very sensible

FrightfullyPoshFloss · 13/10/2005 20:03
