First birthday party

Am organising DS's first birthday party. Have invited mostly children his age and their siblings, so most children will be 1ish and there will be 4 or 5 between 2 and 4. Should I organise games specifically for the older ones? I was thinking a pinata for all, followed by pass-the-parcel and musical statues or something similar for the older ones. What do you think? Is this overkill or expected?

Also, party will be in the afternoon (after lunch but well before the children's dinner time) and there will be lots of adults there, but as it is in-between mealtimes I was thinking of cupcakes and cakes plus some salty snacks (maybe hummous with vegetable sticks and some canapes) for the adults, to go with the champagne. Do people think that works or is it overkill, on the basis that the adults will have just had lunch and so won't want canapes?

Quite a lot for his birthday! Don't be upset if he seems overwhelmed by it all Grin

I'd just have snacks for the adults - make life easy for yourself. Basic games for the kids - not sure a two year old would get pass the parcel?
