Death Star cake - need spherical advice

Hiya, I'm going to make a death star cake using a bowl - any advice from experienced MNers? I'm going to bake it in a game of two halves, but should I in fact do four sections - i.e. for each half, cook a bit in the bottom of the bowl for a while before filling it up to the top and baking the rest together? I'm worried about the middle of each half not cooking through?

Well, in case anyone finds this in the future, it worked OK just doing one half and then the other half, without breaking it down further. I cooked it quite slowly and for the last 15 mins or so I covered the top with greaseproof. I lined the bottom of the bowl with a small circle of greaseproof and the second time i also added a 'fringe' of greaseproof to line a bit more of the bowl, which worked well.

Just got to ice it now... off to Youtube Confused

You needed to have watched Ace of Cakes! They build their cakes from layers of cake, so a sphere is made up from a few layer of cake sandwiched together (with buttercream I guess) and they then carve the shape out of it.

Glad it worked out though!
