I was thinking of having a chocolate fountain for my soon to be 3yr daughter. I have already booked the hall and entertainer and wondered if the chocolate fountain was a good idea. I have invited about 30 children but I think only 20 will show.

Is this a good idea.....help Confused

Melted chocolate and excited three year olds? Together? Shock

I'm sure they will all form an orderly queue and stick to the regulation 2 marshmallows and 1 strawberry on a stick. Will be fine... Wink

um.... you're a brave woman is all i can say!!!!

what level of supervision? i mean adult to child ratio?

you could end up with a lot of chocolate everywhere, inc over the children and very hyper kids! Grin

hmm... think you're going to get a lot of mucky little hands/toys/half eaten cakes thrust under the chocolate flow....will proably be gross unless very carefully supervised....

I reccomend having it on whilst something else is happening...so so perhaps if you have a game of musical statues, then put it on and as the kids get knocked out of the game then they can come and queue up for a go on the fountain. Then you wont be flooded...when they have each had a little dip...pack it up!

Ha ha ha ha ha ha.

Good one.

no! it's a terrible idea! sorry!

as well as what everyone has said already, in 20 children there are bound to be a few mums who don't think their 3yos should have more than a very small amount of chocolate and will be cross with you.

and they will be wearing nice dresses and go home all chocolately.

oh no no no.

just get a lot of balloons. Good clean fun.

could be a misguided idea in my opinion. Chocolate fountains - nice idea, but very realistically, approx 30 seconds of entertainment maximum, it's just a fancy way of serving dessert basically, and the chocolate is too rich for littlies. my toddler boys love the very act of sticking the fruit/marshmallow under the chocolate, but never actually eat it!

in a word...NO

Yas7 · 07/11/2010 22:37

LOL - thanks eveyone.... will leave the chocolate fountain for when she a little older with less kids to invite Grin

unless you provide them all with wipe down plastic suits it will possibly be the messiest party ever held!

tearinghairout · 07/11/2010 22:40

Oh, please go ahead with it - it'll be brilliant, they'll have such fun, and so will you, scraping chocolate off the carpet/sofa/ceiling for the next six months!

Tidey · 07/11/2010 22:40

Not even including the mess and stains, which I imagine will be considerable, I just don't think they look very nice, keeping chocolate heated for ages seems wrong and the amount of vegetable oil or whatever that gets added to it so it flows properly, yeurgh.

piscesmoon · 07/11/2010 22:49

Only if you provide showers and clean sets of clothes!!!

fivecandles · 09/11/2010 21:21

No. Wrong on so many levels.

I had a choclate fountain at my daughters 6th birthday party and they WERE covered by the end....I THink really 3 is probably a bit young to be honest.

3 year olds really just want to play and rn around like headless chickens - keep the food really simple and have lots of games instead.
